This paper considers the evolution of the ionized region produced by a source of UV photons where the emitted radiation is confined to a cone, rather than emerging isotropically. The ionization fronts at the end of such conical HII regions travel faster, and propagate to greater distances, than in the spherical case. The model is applied to recent observations of NGC 6334(A).
