Coronal rings have been observed over both north and south polar crown prominences with the X-ray Telescope aboard the Hinode Observatory. These rings appear as dark bands surrounded by the brighter diffuse corona and can only be seen suspended above the solar limb. The properties of these coronal rings will be presented as well as a review of current polar crown prominence models.
The US XRT team is supported by a contract from NASA to SAO. Hinode is an international project supported by JAXA, NASA, PPARC and ESA. We are grateful to the Hinode team for all their efforts in the design, development and operation of the mission.
