Basaltic asteroids represent the remains of the crusts of differentiated planetesimals, and as such provide an important record of the formation of the terrestrial planets. Because the vast majority of basaltic (V-type) asteroids are dynamically associated with Vesta and thus represent repeated sampling of a single parent body, it is important to identify fragments of independent differentiated objects. Since 2005, we have been conducting a spectroscopic survey of asteroids which have been serendipitously observed by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, and which display colors consistent with a basaltic reflectance spectrum. To date we have observed 73 candidates. One of the objects that we have identified as basaltic in nature, (21238) 1995 WV7, is particularly interesting due to its large dynamical separation from Vesta, indicating it is probably derived from another parent body. The survey has been funded for an additional two years, and observations, data reduction, and analysis are ongoing. We present the preliminary results of the first two years of this survey.
