Monte Carlo calculations have been performed for pure scattering line profiles originating in a supernova envelope that expands as v proportional to r. Electron scattering is taken into account. The anomalous 5892-A Na I profile in the spectrum of supernova 1970g is synthesized. The fact that its emission component is missing may be interpretable by a model which provides for electron scattering in the supernova atmosphere.
