Fundamental-mode nonadiabatic oscillations of a star that have a large value for the order l of the spherical harmonic are examined. Oscillations of this type have been observed on the sun as one branch of the two-dimensional spectrum for the 5-min oscillations. A system of energy equations for nonadiabatic oscillations is derived and applied to the fundamental mode of high-1, nonradial, nonadiabatic oscillation. It is shown that the f-mode of the 5-min oscillation on the sun can be excited only through interaction with a turbulent convection.
