The distribution of dust material in the Andromeda Nebula, the galaxy M31, was investigated based on the absorption indicated by Cepheids in Bade's fields I-III. The amount of absorption was determined from the departure of each Cepheid from the period-luminosity relation at the corresponding value of the period. The results of the absorpton inferred from the Cepeids indicate that the interstellar absorbing matter is concentrated toward the inner edge of spiral arm S4.
