We present a photometric system for the standard X-ray spectral band similar to photometric systems in optical astronomy. This system allows to estimate source flux in a model independent way, e.g. for comparison with multi-wavelength data. Moreover, it allows model independent comparisons of spectral diagnostics (X-ray colors, hardness) between different missions (e.g. Chandra and XMM) and different instruments (e.g. Chandra ACIS-I and ACIS-S) at different times.
Here we present results for the Chandra X-ray satellite. First we describe the X-ray photometry system and then provide examples for its application based on archival Chandra observations.
