Maps are presented of the J = 2 - 1 and J = 1 - 0 transitions of (C-12)O, (C-13)O, and C(O-18) in the dark cloud B5. The H density and CO fractional abundances are determined along a N-S strip through the center of the cloud. It is found that the density is fairly uniform over most of the cloud, that the fractional abundances of (C-13)O and C(O-18) decrease sharply on the edge of the cloud, and that the kinetic temperature rises in the outer regions. The observations are shown to provide strong support for chemical isotopic fractionation in the outer parts of the cloud. Evidence is presented for rotation of the bulk of the cloud in one sense and rotation of the core in the opposite sense. It is concluded that, in its present state, B5 appears to be supported against further collapse.
