Using full-disk observations obtained with the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft, we present solar acoustic mode frequencies and their rotational splitting coefficients for modes with degree up to 900 determined using global helioseismology analysis. Most of the known instrumental and observational effects that affect specifically the high-degree modes have been removed.
The structural and dynamical properties of the near-surface layers of the Sun was analyzed through the study of: (a) the difference between the observed and theoretical frequencies; and (b) the solar rotation at different latitudes estimated using a simple analytical method.
We also present variations of the mode frequencies resulting from solar activity over most of solar cycle 23. We have studied the correlation of medium and high degree modes with four different solar indices. Our results confirm that the frequency shift scaled by the relative mode inertia is a function of frequency alone and follows a simple power law.
