Starting from the cold plasma dispersion relation of left-hand-polarized
ion cyclotron waves propagating parallel to the external magnetic field
in a multi-ion component plasma, the heating rate of each ion species is
calculated for various values of the plasma parameters and wave
spectrum, with reference to the solar wind heavy ions.
