A sample of Seyfert galaxies comprising 161 objects is compiled. To determine whether a connection exists between Seyfert galaxies and neighboring objects, counts are made of galaxies in circles 1.5 Mpc in diameter around fixed Seyfert galaxies. It is found that the Seyfert galaxies figure in the clustering tendency of galaxies and that type 2 Seyfert galaxies exhibit a stronger tendency to participate in the clustering of galaxies than do type 1 objects. Type 1 Seyfert galaxies are more often found to be isolated than are type 2 galaxies. Another finding is that type 2 Seyfert galaxies occur more often in isolated pairs of galaxies than do type 1 objects. Attention is also given to the problem of the connection between Seyfert galaxies and Zwicky clusters. It is found that Seyfert galaxies tend to occur in Zwicky clusters and that they probably avoid compact clusters. Type 2 Seyfert galaxies coincide more often with clusters than do type 1 objects. Seyfert galaxies that are probably members of Zwicky clusters exhibit a tendency to be closer to the centers of concentration of galaxies in the clusters.
