The NASA Herschel Science Center (NHSC) was established by NASA to support the US community in its use of the Herschel Space Observatory. The NHSC is part of the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC) at Caltech. The NHSC will continue to operate throughout the lifetime of the Herschel Mission, including the post-cryogen archival phase. The poster will describe the goals of the NHSC, and discuss how we are supporting the US astronomical community for the upcoming Open Time Key Projects proposal cycle, including how we plan to fund US investigators who are successful in obtaining telescope time. The poster will also decribe the Herschel NASA Theoretical Research and Laboratory Astrophysics program which is designed to support the measurement and computation of atomic or molecular parameters that address the critical data needs of the Herschel mission.
