We combined our Subaru/Suprime-Cam optical imaging with deep ( 85 ks) NUV imaging from GALEX to select a photometric sample of NUV drop-outs in the Subaru Deep Field (SDF). We selected 4200 candidate Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) with NUV-B colors larger than 2.0 (AB) in the 27'x34' field-of-view. Follow-up spectroscopy of 36 targets taken this year with KeckI/LRIS-B shows that a large fraction of them are LBGs and Lyman-α emitters at 1.6 < z < 2.7. Using the follow-up spectroscopy, we will optimize our empirical selection criteria to maximize completeness while minimizing contamination by foreground galaxies. The NUV imaging will be extended to 160 ks, and we are obtaining deep U-band imaging of SDF with the MOSAIC camera on the KPNO/4-m.
