The solar system group at Armagh Observatory in Northern Ireland has been operating a cluster of three light-sensitive, motion-activated video cameras with the aim of recording meteor activity regularly and continuously over long timescales. One of these cameras is combined with a camera operated by an amateur astronomer 75 km ENE of Armagh as a double station meteor network, the first of its kind in Ireland. A total of 1300 meteors were recorded during the first year of operations (07/05-06/06) with a quarter of that number being double station meteors. Operational experience has borne out the strengths of the system as well as ways in which it can be improved. Development of software for the astrometric and photometric analysis of these data is underway (see accompanying paper by Atreya & Christou, 2007)
