The use of interactive 3D visualizations to inspect the shape and particle distribution ofthe Geminid meteoroid stream is explored, based on the model of Dr. Galina O. Ryabova. Both geometric (isosurface extraction) and volumetric (volume ray casting) visualization approaches are applied. using the The Visualization Toolkit (VTK) software library. We find that the visualizations offer a better. insight in the spatial structure of the Geminid stream, although further work on the visualization of individual particles is required to enable scientific applications.
