Arecibo delay-Doppler images (2380 MHz, 12.6 cm) obtained on 2004 August 27-September 2 reveal that near-Earth asteroid 2002 CE26 is a binary system. Delay-Doppler images at 75m resolution show a primary with a diameter of 3 km and a secondary with a diameter of 100-200m. Lightcurve analysis by Pravec et al. (pers. comm.) indicates a primary rotational period of 3.2931 ± 0.0005 h. The secondary was observed at superior conjunction on Aug 30.076 and inferior conjunction at Aug 31.052. Preliminary work suggests a nearly circular orbit with a period of 16 h and radius of 5 km. Large-scale surface structures are visible on the primary.
