Ejecta with very different abundances surrounds Eta Carinae, a massive binary system at the end of its CNO-cycle. In line of sight, thousands of narrow absorption lines have been identified to originate from many elements including iron peak metals not ordinarily seen in the ISM. Thus far, lines of H2, CH, OH, NH, CH+, possibly HCl, but no CO have been identified. The dust, thought to be amorphous silicates and alumina, has very different properties from that of IS dust. Intermediate chemical products, plus hydrides and nitrides must be present. We look for insight on the chemistry of this nitrogen-dominated gas and advice on key observations that will help quantify the total ejecta mass.
