The gravitational stability of supercompact configurations is examined on the basis of the chi-approximately-equal-to-r-squared solution for the scalar field obtained by Saakian and Mnatsakanian from the numerical solutions of the equations of hydrostatics in the Jordan-Brans-Dicke approximation. The gamma-not-less-than-2/3 stability condition is obtained for polytropic configurations (gamma is the polytropic index), instead of the gamma-not-less-than-4/3 condition (suitable for not very compact configurations). Analytical solutions are obtained for the internal-structure equations for several other important series of configurations.
