Whitham's rule is adopted to study the propagation of magnetogasdynamic spherical shock waves in a medium whose density and temperature decrease exponentially. The shock is generated by an explosion at the origin and it is assumed that it moves normal to the layer of variation of density, magnetic field, and temperature. The dimensionless equations of motion, effective sound velocity, and generalized Rankine-Hugoniot jump conditions are stated, and Whitham's rule is used to get an expression for shock velocity. It is found that the shock velocity and shock Mach number first decrease, but after a certain distance they start increasing.
