We propose to observe with XMM-Newton 3 sources belonging to a new AGN class: the naked AGN. Preliminary snapshot observations with Chandra demonstrate that these objects are easily detectable and no nearby sources are present within a radius of 1 arcminute. Based on optical studies, these AGN appear as type2 from the spectral point of view, and as type1 AGN for their variability. The X-ray data, which are unambiguously associated with genuine nuclear activity, are crucial to shed light on the nature of these enigmatic sources, which may be representative of a large class of AGN. XMM-Newton unique capabilities are crucial to: 1) Investigate the continuum spectrum and the Fe K line; 2) Study the flux and spectral variability; 3)Compare the SED with those of type1 and type2 AGN.
