Photoelectric photometry of galaxies in a 10-filter intermediate band system between 3400 and 5500 A is presented. Included in the observing program are 56 galaxies of all the main Hubble types. The observations are compared with detailed medium resolution spectral scans and with broad band photometry. A spectral index is defined by the difference in received flux between the extreme bands to be used as a type discriminant. Analyses of the data will be reported in subsequent papers.
