It is suggested that fresh carbon mixed into H-rich layers by overshooting during the He-flash may play a role in the expected evolutionary behavior of HB stars, with respect to both the location on the HR diagram of newborn stars of this type and their evolutionary path. The range of surface temperatures covered during HB evolution under this hypothesis is greatly increased, and a bimodal distribution may be attained.
