The pulsar PSR 0833-45, discovered in 1968. With a period of only 9.3 ms, it has one of the fastest pulse-rates known, implying that it is one of the youngest pulsars. This is borne out by an observed deceleration in its pulse-rate of 10.7 ns per day, which sets an upper limit to the time elapsed since it was formed in a supernova explosion of about 11 000 years.
