We intend to derive oxygen abundances in old metal-poor stars employing the infrared OH lines at 1.6 micron (giants) and 3.6 micron (dwarfs). Recent results on ultraviolet OH lines give a high oxygen abundance at early times, [O/Fe] ~ +1.0, whereas [O/Fe] ~ +0.4 is obtained by several authors based on the oxygen forbidden line [OI] 6300 Å. It is important now to compare the infrared OH to the UV OH lines, in order to clarify the issue. Since UV OH lines are subject to unknown blends, the infrared region is more suitable to use OH lines in order to derive oxygen abundances.
