The high degree of linear polarization integrated over the galaxy 3C 76.1 ranks this source among the most polarized sources in the sky, and its slow decrease with increasing wavelength ranks this source among the least depolarizing sources in the sky. To understand why, observations of the galaxy 3C 76.1 at a high resolution (from 0.5 to 6.2 arcsec) have been obtained with the Very Large Array in New Mexico, at a wavelength of 6.1 cm. The VLA data reveal several components, of sizes of a few arcsec, located roughly along a central line at a position angle of about 135 deg and passing through the center of the optical galaxy, much like two blobby, discontinuous but oppositely directed jets. Here the magnetic field structure is running transverse to this central line, prior to the bending of this line into a Z-shaped curve. Past the bending points, the magnetic field structure is inferred to run parallel to the radio structure there.
