Electronographic UBV photometry of stars in the ionizing cluster of NGC 3603 is used to determine a distance of 5.3+1.6-1.2 kpc to the nebula. This estimate is significantly different from previous photometric determinations. It also differs from the kinematic distance of 7-8 kpc obtained from the observed radial velocity confirming the existence of large-scale regional motions near the nebula.
