Unified BV photometric data on 363 cepheids (including those for 78 stars observed by the author only) are used for a new approach to studying the space distribution of cepheids. The new distance scale, shorter (by factor 0.8) than Ferni's and Hube's (1968) scale, is used. The concentration of cepheids around fragments of the two-armed global spiral pattern traced by giant H II regions is found; these fragments approximately correspond to the Car-Sgr and Per arms. Nearly all cepheids up to a distance of 2 kpc from the sun are concentrated within |Z| < 150 pc and 85% within 100 pc. The sun is at 26±6 pc to the north of the galactic plane. The large-scale variations in the distribution of dust clouds is confirmed by the cepheid data.
