The star α Draconis, a white giant of spectral type A0III and
apparent magnitude 3.67. At a distance of 297 light-years (parallax
0.011'') it has an absolute magnitude of -1.1. It was the pole star c.
2800 BC. The name derives from the Arabic name of the whole
constellation, meaning `the Dragon'....
