Space vehicles have revealed the broad outlines of the micrometeorite mass distribution at one astronomical unit from the Sun, although some uncertainties remain. But we still know nothing about their composition and have only scant data about their origin. Such data as exist support a cometary origin for micrometeorites, in accord with most recent theoretical work.
