During the lunar occultation of the Crab nebula the dimensions of the source have been measured along the radius in the directions of the principal axes equal to 4arcmin04arcsec for the major axis and 3arcmin for the minor one at the level of 0.05% of the full flux. The distribution of the spectral index has been derived: α = 0.26 in the internal region and α = 0.7 in the external layer of 50arcsec depth. The radiation at the periphery of the nebula is interpreted as the envelope radiation being typical for young supernova remnants. Parameters of the envelope (dimensions, mass) and characteristics of its radiation (spectrum and luminosity) are determined.
