Features in the circular polarization spectrum of the magnetic degenerate GD 229 were observed. One of the major features coincides with the λ 4185 unidentified flux feature and another is within the broad unidentified flux feature at λ 5295. The λ 4185 as well as a marginal feature at λ 4880 are explainable by stationary Hγ and Hβ transitions, respectively, in a magnetic field of about 25-60 MG. A tentative identification of the λ 5295 feature at this field strength is presented in terms of intersecting Balmer α and β transitions.
