Japanese satellite, launched in February 1981 to observe the Sun during
the peak of its 11-year cycle. Carried instruments to image x-rays from
solar flares and detect x-ray emission lines from highly ionized iron in
solar flares. Hinotori means `firebird'. (See also ASTRO.)...
