Recent Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) experiments (BOOMERanG and MAXIMA) show a clear first acoustic peak in the temperature power spectrum and indications of a second acoustic peak. The first peak provides information on the total matter content and density of the Universe, and the ratio of first and second peak heights is related to the baryon density of the Universe (Ω_baryons). Before the recombination epoch, there was a strong coupling between the matter and photons, so we may see similar acoustic oscillations in the matter power spectrum. If we live in a low Ω_matter Universe with a contribution from baryons of Ω_baryons ~ 0.03, the acoustic oscillations in the matter distribution (at z ~ 0), consistent with oscillations in the temperature distribution (at z ~ 1000), would provide the most definitive evidence yet for the Inflationary model. Here we present a joint analysis of the power spectra of density from three independent cosmological redshift surveys (including our own Abell cluster survey). We find statistically significant features in these power spectra that are consistent with those caused by the same acoustic oscillations responsible for the CMB anisotropies.
