Neutron activation data for Ru, Os and Ir in 46 iron meteorites and Pt and Au in 38 iron meteorites are reported. The suite was previously analysed for 12 other elements by Smales and co-workers. All catinum group metals are positively correlated with each other except for Pd. Os, Ir and Ru are highly correlated with each other whereas Pt is strongly correlated only with Ru. Pd was the only platinum group metal to correlate well with other non-platinum metals showing strong positive correlation with Ni, As, Au, Cu and Sb. There is a general positive correlation of Os, Ir, Ru and Re within each of the chemical groups recognized by Wasson and co-workers, but assignment of a meteorite to a specific chemical group from noble metal data alone is not possible. However, further division of chemical groups on a basis of Os-Ir-Re values may be possible. Suggested iron meteorite groupings according to Ir-Pt values are not supported by the data from this study.
