English astronomer and instrument-maker, died on the battlefield of
Marston Moor, Yorkshire. Invented the eyepiece micrometer, using a screw
to measure the distance between two wires inside the eyepiece, so as to
measure small angles with precision, and made telescopes, including one
with two convex lenses....
