Mathematician, born in Bamberg, Germany. Became a Jesuit in Rome, and wrote a number of textbooks, including a version of Euclid's Elements, a commentary on the Sphere of Sacrobosco, and books on algebra, the astrolabe, and practical arithmetic and geometry.
