Vesta, with a mean diameter of 529 km, is the third largest main-belt ASTEROID and was the fourth asteroid to be discovered. It was found in 1807 by the German Astronomer HEINRICH OLBERS and named after the goddess of fire and the hearth in the Roman mythology.
