The International Rosetta Mission was approved in November 1993 by ESA's
Science Programme Committee (SPC) as the Planetary Cornerstone Mission
in ESA's long-term program Horizon 2000. The mission goal is a
rendezvous with comet 46P/Wirtanen. A subsidiary aim is the study of two
asteroids during close fly-bys en route to the comet....
