Z Bosons, Other Gauge Bosons

Scientific paper

Indirect searches for an extra Z are performed using L3 measurements of fermion pair production on and above the Z resonance. Bounds on Z' mass and ZZ' mixing angle are examined for popular models. Further, limits on Z' couplings to fermions derived independently from the Z' model are presented and compared with those of direct searches. The study demonstrates the prospective Z' discovery potential until the end of LEP2 and of a future e+e- linear collider. Possibilities to shrink the bounds on Z' parameters and to identify the Z' model realized in nature are discussed.
