Near-infrared infrared imaging observations of pre-main sequence visual binary stars in the Taurus star-forming region have been made to probe the circumstellar environments of the components with resolution and calibration precision sufficient to detect structure at linear scales from ~ 1.5 - 50 AU. Of the 15 systems studied, approximately half show evidence of detectable extended structure in one of their components. Seven nominally binary systems turn out on closer inspection to be hierarchical triples. I will discuss briefly the observational technique, the results, and their implications.
