B and V CCD photometry of associations of blue stars in the bridge of the Magellanic Cloud is presented demonstrating that the associations are young and have a different IMF from groups in the solar neighborhood. The data are interpreted as indicative of a star-formation mechanism in the SMC-LMC neighborhood that is distinct from that which takes place in the Milky Way. The star-formation mechanism is assumed to be gravitational interaction leading to cloud-cloud collisions. The present photometric data are of use in the definition of the interactions taking place in the Magellanic system.
