V578 Mon is a double-lined, eclipsing binary consisting of two B0.5 stars in a 2.4-day orbit. The system is a member of the NGC 2244 star forming region within the Rosette Nebula. We present a combined analysis of accurate radial velocities from the literature together with our own extensive multi-band photometric light curves spanning nearly 36 years from 1970 to 2006. We determine updated physical parameters for the system with 1% precision for the components of system, including accurate masses, radii, and temperatures. In addition, the long duration, high quality photometry which span more than one full apsidal cycle of the binary allows us to accurately determine the the apsidal motion period (33.7 yr) which has never before been measured for this system. Our modeling gives a new eccentricity and secondary radius that differ from the previous results. The high precision parameter determinations and newly measured apsidal motion presented here, along with the metallicity previously determined in the literature, make this a very important system for testing state of the art high mass stellar evolution models. We also use the newly determined system parameters to measure an accurate distance to NGC 2244. We acknowledge the support of the NSF REU program in Physics & Astronomy at Vanderbilt University.
