The authors present additional arguments for an earlier claim by Peng
and Weisheit 1991 that highly ionized, metal-line absorption systems
observed in QSO spectra arise in the protoglobular clusters of young
galaxies. If true, an important clue to the galaxy-formation process has
been identified.
