Additional arguments are presented for an earlier claim by Peng and Weisheit (1991) that highly ionized metal-line absorption systems observed in QSO spectra arise in the protoglobular clusters of young galaxies. A schematic view is presented of several protoglobular clusters in a young galaxy, together giving rise to the clustered C IV absorption features common in QSO spectra. 'Survival' regions in the mass-radius plane are plotted for young and old globular clusters.
