XMM-Newton, with its high throughput and ability to make long time series observations, is returning outstanding data on the simultaneous X-ray, UV, and optical emission from compact stars. In this talk, we will present highlights from data, as available by the time of the presentation, on cataclysmic variables (CVs) and isolated pulsars. One object that will be reported on is OY Car, an eclipsing CV with a period of 1.51 hrs. It was observed during two epochs for a total of 65 ksec, affording the opportunity to locate and measure the size of the X-ray emitting region, quantify variability, and model the complex spectrum of this accretion-driven system.
