The IAU Symposium S202 of the 24th General Assembly (Manchester, August
7-18, 2000) was dedicated to new, rapidly developing areas of
stellar-planetary astronomy-extrasolar planet discoveries, dust rings,
the theory of the formation and evolution of orbits, and future research
perspectives. A short review of the symposium is presented.
