An observation of the field of the new X-ray transient XTE J1701-462 (ATEL #696, #702, #708) was performed with the Australia Telescope Compact Array on 2006 Jan 22. The observation was made simultaneously at 4.8 and 8.6 GHz over a period of approximately 75 minutes beginning 21:45 UT. A radio source is detected at the location (within uncertainties of order one arcsec) of the infrared counterpart reported by Maitra et al.
