We propose a 100ks observation of the nearby galaxy M51, which hosts nine ULXs and a low luminosity AGN. The primary purpose of our observation is to confirm the periodicity of about 6000s from an ULX and iron line from another ULX in M51, as suggested by earlier short X-ray observations. The proposed 100ks observation will decisively establish the presence of both periodicity and iron line, and enable us to make a detailed study of these features and to search for similar features in other ULXs. Our observations will also provide power density spectra of ULXs, and enable us to detect possible presence of breaks at certain frequencies that will directly establish if ULXs are intermediate mass black holes. The single observation will yield a wealth of information on the nature of nine ULXs.
