The BeppoSAX Wide Field Cameras observations yielded a number of sources which, if at the canonical 8 kpc distance, are less luminous than 10**36 erg/s. Some of these are transients, while others appear to be persistent. Most likely, many of these are high-mass X-ray binaries. One case concerns EXO 1912+097. The prime objectives of the XMM-Newton observation proposed here are to investigate the broad emission feature in detail and understand the nature of the source (i.e., through a search for a slow pulsar and variations in N(H)). A secondary objective is to determine a more accurate position to facilitate optical investigations.
