We propose to revisit the R Aqr symbiotic binary three years after discovery of its x-ray jets, using the power of the RGS for a detailed spectroscopic study of the jets and central source. We will measure plasma density and temperature in the jet shocks, and probe the unique nonthermal emission from the core. Accompanied by VLA radio observation, we will be looking for evolution due to precession of the accretion disk and orbital motion. We will use x-ray diagnostics, including the novel technique of L/K fluorescence line ratios, to study the composition and density of material in and near the accretion disk. We will also do a Five Star Survey to look for similar features in other x-ray emitting symbiotic stars.
